What is SuperVoters.org?
SuperVoters.org is a new website for watching and sharing the best political videos.
SuperVoters.org is a ‘wikipedia for political videos’, and constitutes a giant archive of political videos: speeches, debates, TV ads, and citizen-made videos of all kinds.
Our “bread-and-butter” is curating videos that already exist. Our larger goal is to build a nation-wide network of video activists who can create compelling political videos, both individually and in teams.
Why "SuperVoters"?
During election seasons, we want to beat rightwing SuperPacs at their own game - political videos. Why should voters watch awful SuperPac attack ads on TV when there are so many good progressive videos to watch on the Internet?
The average American watches 4 hours of TV a day, and the reason that the money of SuperPacs is so powerful is largely due to how they can buy their way into this time with their obnoxious ads. But as television transitions to the Internet this dynamic will change. Our challenge is to move voters away from TV and onto SuperVoters.
During legislative seasons, we want to help progressives win legislative battles with advocacy videos that explain issues. We also want to encourage local activists to “birddog” their representatives by asking them about our issues with their cameras running.
How does SuperVoters.org work?
SuperVoters.org is organized into pages for every candidate for Congress (Senate and House) and all 50 state legislatures. We actually have multiple pages for each candidate, on every major issue that progressives care about.
SuperVoters.org is a user-driven site. You can vote each video up or down, and help push it to the top (or bottom) of our home page and each candidate/issue page. And if you find a missing video that you want to share with fellow activists, just click "Submit a Video Link" to paste in essential info and your video will go live.
SuperVoters.org is all about sharing. Below the video player, click the Facebook and/or Twitter buttons to share the best videos with your friends, to educate and inspire them to be more active in politics.
Who are we?
SuperVoters.org was co-founded by Bob Fertik and Harry Waisbren. It is a project of Democrats.com, which is an independent community of Democratic Party and progressive activists that is not controlled by the Democratic party in any way.
The web-platform has been developed by 3 Knights Media.
More broadly, we are striving to ensure progressives remain at the forefront of the #SocialTV revolution, while we collectively build a person oriented media as a bridge to a person oriented society.
